- 5 December 2006 - Children create havens in Bihar A group of children belong to Taru Mitra (Friends of Trees) are transforming derelict areas of the city of Patna. They have transformed a farm into a bio-reserve, cleaned up streets, cleared pig stys, created 25 small gardens and developed 8 nurseries. They have successfully campaigned against trucks creating sand pollution, use pitcher irrigation, and helped clean the streets by demanding fines from litter louts. Wow!
BBC News India - 4 December 2006 - Dutch kids win bet Children from a school in Almere bet their government that they could save more energy over a four week period. They saved 33% whilst the Dutch Environment Minister, Pieter van Geel, saved 20%. Both were able to instigate some lasting measures whilst showing publically what can be done easily.
